How do I play Wordy?
Tap any topic on the home screen to see the available puzzles. Tap a puzzle to open it, then tap a clue to select it. Use the keyboard to type your answer letter by letter. Correct letters are highlighted in green. Complete all clues to finish the puzzle!
Which puzzles are free?
The first puzzle in every topic is completely free — no purchase needed. That gives you access to 7 free puzzles to try before you decide to unlock everything. Upgrading to Premium unlocks all 90+ puzzles with a single one-time purchase.
What age is Wordy for?
Wordy is designed for children aged 6–12. Easy puzzles are great for younger children just starting out, while Hard puzzles will challenge older kids and curious adults too!
Does Wordy work offline?
Yes — Wordy works completely offline. Once the app is installed, no internet connection is needed to play any puzzle.
Hints
How do hints work?
Every player starts with 10 free hints. Tap the 💡 hint button while a clue is selected to reveal one random missing letter. Hints are deducted from your balance when used. Revealed letters appear in a different colour so you know which ones were hinted.
How do I earn more hints?
Complete a puzzle and you'll automatically earn 2 more hints. There's no limit to how many you can earn — the more puzzles you complete, the more hints you build up!
I ran out of hints — what do I do?
Keep playing! Every completed puzzle earns you 2 hints back. Focus on the clues you know first, and use hints for the tricky ones once you've earned more.
Premium & purchases
How much does Premium cost?
Wordy Premium is a one-time purchase of £3.99. There are no subscriptions, no recurring charges and no hidden costs. Pay once and own all puzzles forever — including any new puzzles we add in future updates.
I purchased Premium but it's not showing — what do I do?
Try restoring your purchase. On iOS, go to the home screen and look for a "Restore Purchases" option in the settings or menu. If that doesn't work, please contact us at hello@wordyapp.net with your Apple ID or Google account and we'll sort it out.
Can I use my purchase on multiple devices?
Yes. On iOS, your purchase is linked to your Apple ID. If you sign in with the same Apple ID on another device and restore purchases, your Premium access will be active there too at no extra cost.
How do I request a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the Wordy purchase and select "Request a refund". Apple typically processes refunds within a few days. For Google Play purchases, visit the Google Play app, go to your order history and request a refund there.
Progress & data
Is my progress saved automatically?
Yes. Your progress is saved automatically as you play. If you leave a puzzle halfway through and come back later, all your filled letters will be exactly where you left them.
Will I lose my progress if I delete the app?
Yes — deleting the app will clear your local progress data and hint balance. Your Premium purchase is safe (it's linked to your Apple ID or Google account) but your puzzle progress will reset. We recommend completing puzzles before deleting the app.
Does Wordy collect any of my data?
No. Wordy collects no personal data whatsoever. Everything is stored locally on your device and never transmitted anywhere. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Technical issues
The app crashed or won't open — what should I do?
First try closing the app fully and reopening it. If the problem persists, try restarting your device. If you're still having trouble, please email us at hello@wordyapp.net with your device model and iOS version and we'll investigate.
A clue or answer looks wrong — how do I report it?
We review all our puzzles carefully but mistakes can slip through. If you spot an error please email hello@wordyapp.net with the puzzle name, the clue number and what you think is wrong. We really appreciate these reports — they help make Wordy better for everyone.
How do I update Wordy to the latest version?
Open the App Store (or Google Play), go to your account and check for pending updates. We recommend keeping Wordy updated to get the latest puzzles and bug fixes.
